The Federation of Connecticut Taxpayer Organizations, Inc. is sponsoring a breakfast forum on Property Tax Reform and Relief on Saturday, November 10, 2007 from 8 AM to 12 Noon at the Chatfield, 1 Chatfield Drive, West Hartford, across from the West Farms Mall.   We invite the public to join us.  The event is free and donations are optional.  Please RSVP to Susan Kniep at 860-841-8032 or fctopresident@aol.com.  Our guest speakers will provide us with insight into how we can obtain property tax relief in the 169 towns throughout Connecticut.  Taxpayer Groups will have an opportunity to network and listen to the success and concerns of others.

Chatfield is easily reached from I-84.

 

From the West, take I-84 East to Exit 40.  Turn left onto New Britain Avenue.  Turn right onto Chatfield Drive. Chatfield’s entrance is the first right.

 

From the East, take I-84 West to Exist 40.  Turn left onto Ridgewood Rd.  At the light turn left onto New Britain Avenue.  Chatfield is 200 ft ahead on the right. 

 

Biography of Laurence Cohen

 

Laurence D. Cohen, a columnist for the Hartford Courant, the Hartford Business Journal and the Waterbury Republican-American is a Senior Fellow at the Yankee Institute for Public Policy.

 

He is a former reporter, editor, editorial writers and member of the Editorial Board at the Courant; has held senior speechwriting positions at the Hartford Insurance Group and United Technologies Corporation; and served as Special Assistant to former Connecticut Gov. John Rowland.

 

He is a former President of the Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and former President of the Connecticut Valley Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

 

He is an adjunct instructor at the University of Hartford and has also taught at the University of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State University, and Albertus Magnus College.

 

He is president of Cohen Communications, Inc., a public affairs and public policy consulting firm in Glastonbury.
